The annual Flamstead Scarecrow Festival, which raises funds for the Hertfordshire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre and the Friends of St Leonard’s (FOSL), takes place over the following days in 2016:

Friday 19 August: 12.00pm to 5.00pm

Saturday 20 August: 10.00am until 6.00pm

Sunday 21 August: 10.30am to 5.00pm

Every year the residents of Flamstead build 100 or more scarecrows. These are placed around the village, attracting about 5,000 visitors over the course of the three days.

Participants at the event can make their way around the village and vote for their favourite scarecrows, then return to the village hall location where a variety of activities, stalls and refreshments will be available including; Morris dancing, story time and Punch and Judy for the children, brass band, cream teas, a variety of stalls and food and beer festivals in the pubs.

There will be a free car park and free buses are laid on to take less able-bodied people around the village. Use postcode AL3 8DE in your Sat Nav to find this year’s event which is being sponsored by our Fine & Country office in nearby Redbourn.
